So, in this post, we will tell you about the TOP 5 Most Expensive Players in IPL 2021.

01. Chris Morris – 16.25 Crore

(RR)

Chris Morris is one of the finest fast-bowling all-rounders of the current time in the world. And his all-around skill helped him to get a lot of money in the Indian Premier League 2021. Chris Morris had registered himself for IPL 2021 auction at a base price of Rs 75 lakh. But Surprisingly, he turned out to be the most expensive player in IPL history.

He was grabbed by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 16.25 Crore. Morris had been part of this franchise some years ago as well. Before him, Yuvraj Singh held the record of being the most expensive player of IPL. Yuvraj Singh was picked by Delhi Capitals for Rs 16 crore in the 8th season of the IPL.

When the Name of Morris came into the auction, Royal Challengers and Mumbai Indians began the bidding for him.  At  10.25 Crore Rajasthan Royals joined the bidding combat.

But It became more intense when Punjab Kings jumped into bidding for this All Rounder at Rs 13.50 Crore. After a long fight, Rajasthan Royals finally added him to his squad for 16.25 Rupees.

If his IPL career is considered, Chris has played 77 IPL matches and smashed 599 runs. Meanwhile, his strike rate is 157.88 and he contributed 94 wickets as well.

02. Kyle Jamieson – 15 Crore

(RCB)

New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson is 6’8″ tall which helps him to generate uneven bounce. Moreover, in recent times he has impressed everyone with his performance. And just because of his performance he attracted many franchises in the IPL auction for 2021. Further, he became the second most expensive player that year. Just like Morris, the base of Kyle was Rs 75 lakh.

But it was his day as RCB and Delhi Capitals began to bid for Kyle. The bidding war Between Rcb and Delhi ended at 7.75 Crore. But then Punjab Kings started to show their purse power. After an extended fight for this pacer, Punjabi finally quit.

And no other team made a bid at this price. As a result,  Royal Challengers Bangalore won the bid and paid an amount of Rs 15 crore for Jamieson. Apart from it, Kyle snatched the record of most costly  New Zealand player in IPL history.

Before the IPL 2021 was suspended and rescheduled to UAE, he has played 7 matches and picked just 9 wickets for RCB at the economy of 9.21

It is true that he failed to live up to the expectations of RCB in the first half of IPL. We hope he will do well in the second half which will be played from 19 September to 15 October 2021 in UAE. In international cricket, Kyle has represented New Zealand in 6 Tests, 8 T20Is, 8 Tests, and 6 ODIs so far.

03. Glenn Maxwell – 14.25 Crore

(RCB)

After a pathetic performance for Punjab Kings in IPL 2020, Glenn Maxwell was left in the Auction Pool by the franchise. In that season he played a total of 13 matches and scored just 108 runs. In IPL 2020 Maxi was bought by Punjab for 10.75 Crore.

But even after such a performance, Many franchises still had belief in him and bid for him to a big extent. The minimum Price to bid for Maxwell was 2 Crore. Once his name was announced by the auctioneer, Kolkata Knight Riders made the first bid for him.

Then Rajasthan Royals entered the contest of bidding for this dangerous batsman. After some starting bids, RCB replaced Rajasthan Royals and ultimately, Chennai Super Kings joined when KKR decided to quit. But 3 times IPL winner CSK could not stand against RCB for a long time in that bidding battle and Royal Challengers Bangalore finally grabbed The Big Show Maxwell for Rs 14.25 crores.

Decisions to buy Maxwell for that high price worked for the Virat Army. In this first phase of IPL 2021, he played 7 matches and batted in 6 innings where he scored 223 runs at the strike rate of 144.80

In his IPL career, Maxwell had played for 3 teams Delhi Capitals ( Delhi Daredevils ), Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. And scored 1728 runs in 89 matches with an average of 23.35 along with his impressive strike rate of 153.33

Richardson entered the auction at the base price of Rs 1.5 crore.

Royal Challengers Bangalore offered the first bid for this fast bowler and later on Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings joined the competition. After making few bids, Punjab Kings quit which led to the war between Delhi Capitals and RCB.

However, Punjab again showed interest in buying him and started budding at Rs. 7.50 crore. And the bidding battle between PBKS and RCB ended at Rs 14  Crore when PBKS ultimately grabbed Jhye.

In the first half of IPL, Jhye Richardson played3 matches and could only take 3 wickets. Moreover, he spent the runs with the economy of 10.64 which forced Punjab to keep him out for the rest of the matches.

The second half of IPL will start in September so he needs to give some stunning performances for his team to get big bids in the Mega auction for IPL 2022.
